Gary Spatz founded “The Playground – A Young Actors’ Conservatory” as an on-camera acting program where kids, teens, and young adults are asked to challenge themselves which ultimately stimulates their abilities.

At The Playground in Los Angeles and Orange County, our main focus is creating a nurturing environment that allows our students to exercise their imaginations and creativity. Gary and his faculty of professional teachers strive to help each actor develop their creativity, confidence, communication skills, and self-esteem. We have acting classes all year including our summer acting programs.

Acting Classes Help Develop Your Self Confidence

Gary Spatz’s Playground is dedicated to helping kids, teens, and adults create their own unique style for on-camera performances associated with television, film, and commercial. Our actors will learn the craft of acting, and if you’re a parent, you will learn about the acting business and performing arts.

Young Actors’ Programs at The Playground

At The Playground, our classes focus on the craft of television acting, commercial acting, acting auditioning, and film acting. Actors that enroll at The Playground will not only improve in their acting skills; our students learn other skills that help them become more successful and succeed in life. Gary Spatz and his faculty will help you become a better speaker, better listener, improve your reading comprehension, and your self confidence will skyrocket.

The Playground Acting Studio

The Playground acting school utilizes professional quality digital recording studios including theater style seating, high definition playback monitors, start of the art cameras, digital video recorders, professional digital video editing, and studio grade lighting that you’d find at a TV set.

Our acting classes will help you excel at on-camera work. Our acting studios in Los Angeles and Orange County are designed to compliment our coach’s efforts to help our kid actors, teen actors, and young adults classes develop professional and unique acting technique.

Acting Classes For Kids Program

Our most popular acting program is our youngest program, the children’s program. Our acting classes for kids is for 7 and 8-year-old children. In some situation, we can work with 6 yr old children if they’re passionate with an advanced reading level. We also have three different levels starting with beginners, intermediate, and advanced. We’ll have our acting directors interview your child to determine their level, but most young children start at the beginning level. These classes are also available during our summer acting programs.

Preteen Acting Classes

The Playground preteen acting program is designed for kids that are between the ages 9 and 12 years old. This is the perfect acting program for young kids seeking the benefits of acquiring acting skills and building confidence. This acting program also has three levels; beginners, intermediate, and advanced experience levels. If you’re just visiting Los Angeles, you can take these classes during the summer as well.

Teen Acting Classes

Our teen acting program is very popular with teens between the ages of 13 to 17. Have you ever watched the Disney Channel and thought to yourself, “I wonder what it’s like to act on camera. It looks like fun..” Well it is fun! Gary Spatz has worked with some of the most famous actors and actresses that started with the Disney Channel. Contact us to learn more about this acting program. We have a summer acting program available too. It doesn’t matter if you’re a complete beginner or more advanced; we have three different levels where so we’ll find the perfect placement for you.

Acting Classes For Young Adults

We haven’t forgot about the adults. It doesn’t matter if you’re 18 or 30yrs old, it’s never too late to start learning the craft of acting. The skills you learn at our acting studio are priceless and help you improve in so many areas of life. Like the classes for kids and teens, the adult classes are also focused on on-camera acting skills and we’ll help you when going out on auditions, self-esteem, and confidence. This program is welcoming talent at all levels from beginners to advanced, and we also offer these classes during our summer acting program.

Private Acting Classes

The Playground’s focused private acting classes are available for intermediate to advanced young actors that want to sharpen their acting skills, focus on character development, or prepare for an acting role or audition. Our private acting classes will help you address a broad range of needs.

If you’re a total beginner, private acting classes might be for you if you’re unable to take a regular class on the weekend. If you’re an experienced professional actor, you can take private acting classes to work on character study, cold reading, and monologues. You can also use a private acting session to get advice on finding talent representation, head-shots, plus more. Whatever your concern is during your private acting session, we focus on just you and assist you with the issue.

How Private Acting Coaching Works

If you’re a parent, then you contact our office and request a private coaching session. We you call, make sure that you describe the focus of the session and preferred time and dates. The sessions are held at The Playground acting studio. Obviously if you’re an adult, you can just call yourself and make the appointment lettings us know what areas you want to focus on.

The Playground’s private acting classes are customized to fit your individual needs. Some of your individual needs might include, but not limited to on-camera auditions, theatre auditions, improved audition techniques, audition preparation, help with monologues, and suggestions on improved improvisation techniques.

A lot of our actors have found that our classes have helped with speech impediments, bad acting habits, improved cold reading techniques, and character development.
